Our Vision

CROWN ROAD BAPTIST CHURCH (SUTTON)

seeks toworship further God’s work in Sutton by striving:

  • To be a place where our church family can worship and grow in faith
  • To show God’s love by providing for the needs of our local community
  • To share the gospel and make disciples.

Our History

Back in the 1860's the men who worked in the brickfields around Crown Road met in the open air or, in winter, gathered in a local cottage to worship. By 1883 a tin tabernacle built on the current site met their needs. The ministry, overseen by The Shaftesbury Society flourished then in the 1930's, Sutton Baptist Church assumed responsibility for the work. A new brick building, the one we currently occupy, was opened in baps 1938 providing various activities to serve local needs. In 2010 the fellowship at Crown Road separated from Sutton Baptist Church becoming a church in its own right. Now as part of the Baptist Union of Great Britain Crown Road continues to serve the local community    .

Our Building

A large multi purpose hall occupies the main space attods the rear of the church. On a Sunday this space is used for worship, but in the week it houses Parents and Toddlers groups and serves as an activity area for the girls in GB. Two smaller rooms on the ground floor are used for meetings like Bible Study and our Monday Meeting and upstairs we have a smaller hall used for some of our mid-week groups. The building has a hearing loop and disabled toilet and is accessible on the flat.
